This special event will launch a series that will feature one-on-one interviews that take a deep dive into how someone became a group leader. Call for Proposals Now Open for AGPA Connect 2025 in San Francisco: "Being Seen:  The Many Faces of Group."  Submit Today!

The proposal submission site is now open for AGPA Connect 2025, with the theme "Being Seen: The Many Faces of Group."  The annual event will take place on March 3-8, 2025. For Connect, we are building a concurrent virtual and in-person program to allow for greater accessibility to quality mental health offerings to a greater number of people worldwide. We strongly encourage submissions that will be presented virtually whether you are with us in person in San Francisco or joining remotely. Proposals Submissions are due by June 17, 2024. The U.S. is facing a mental health crisis. There are not enough providers for the increasing demand for mental health treatment. We at AGPA recognize this month as a time to promote mental health awareness and wellness for all. E-Learning Events

ONLINE INSTITUTE: Process Group Experience, Led By Shari Y. Baron, MSN, CNS, CGP, AGPA-F

Saturday and Sunday, July 20-21 from 10:00 am - 1:00 pm and 2:00 - 5:00 pm each day (Eastern) *Please be cognizant of applicable time zones

The process group experience sections will stress the basic elements of group functioning, development, here-and-now group process and examine both the dynamics and process of group psychotherapy. The Institute is structured to maximize learning about group formation, and the role of the leaders and participants in the establishment of group roles, boundaries, norms and structure. Generally, psychodynamic concepts including transference, individual and group resistance and defense mechanisms will be examined as they emerge in the group process. The contribution of the leader to the development of a cohesive and functional group will be examined. Please note that the process group experience sessions are predominantly used as an experiential learning tool rather than didactic sessions, although a didactic debriefing may be done by some facilitators. Please come to the sessions ready to share experiences and learn from each other. Additionally, in order to preserve confidentiality, please attend these sessions in your own physical space where others will not be able to overhear or listen in on the discussions.
