Dear AGPA Members and
Friends,
An Icon is gone. On Sunday,
August 26th, Anne Alonso, Ph.D., CGP, Distinguished Fellow, Past President of
the American Group Psychotherapy Association and Past Chairwoman of the Board of
the Group Psychotherapy Foundation died following a three-month long illness.
How can we mourn someone who has meant so much to our organization? We would
like to order our flag at half mast and a grand procession with all the pomp and
circumstance deserved for her life-long achievements for the education and
training of mental health clinicians and our organization and its members in
particular. Can any of us forget Anne’s stirring metaphor in her Presidential
address of AGPA on “The Village Well”? Her heart, humor, wisdom and generosity
remain as her legacy. All our sympathy goes out to her husband, Ramon, her two
daughters, Marjie and Sarah, and her grandchildren, Jacob, Max and Lucy.
There will be a private family service this week and a memorial service sometime
in September, details will be forthcoming.
In lieu of flowers, the
family requests donations be sent to either:

Foundation (marked for the Anne and Ramon Alonso Endowment Fund), 25 East 21st
