This workshop will
compare and contrast the different types of group intervention for
addressing couple's issues. It consists of: The presentation of a
Couples group Program for Retirement to address the trauma of
transition of life events; A theoretical deconstruction of the
program's group experiences for comparison with traditional marital
therapy; Audience participation and feedback of the couple group
experience.
Learning Objectives:
The attendee will be able to:
1. Name two
rationales for the effectiveness of using group in intervention with
couples.
2. Explain
three different types of group modalities for work with couples as
exemplified in the Group Program for Retirement with Couples.
3. Compare and
contrast at least three ways in which traditional couple therapy
differs from group intervention with couples.
