CounterTransference Resistance in Involuntary Groups: the Good, the Bad, the Ugly

This workshop describes and identifies common resistances experienced by therapists leading

involuntary groups.  We will examine a number of ways to resolve countertransference

resistance and demonstrate working with it in a demonstration group and mock supervision. 

Participants will learn how working with countertransferential feelings can benefit their groups.

Learning Objectives:

The attendee will be able to:

1. Identify common countertransference resistances in involuntary groups.

2. Explain how to work with countertransference from a psychodynamic perspective.

3. Utilize countertransference to help resolve group resistances
