Utilizing demonstration groups,
lecture, and discussion the leaders will clarify the concept and
mechanism of the group's "culture" as a paramount therapeutic
factor. The group will specify those cultural elements (shared norms
and values) that maximize therapeutic movement and will illustrate
specific techniques for promulgating these therapeutic cultural
elements.
Experiential-demonstration-didactic-sharing of work experiences
The attendee will be able to:
1. Describe the manner in which
cultural norms and values influence the direction of the
group process.
2. Identify those specific norms
and values that best contribute to therapeutic change for different
group settings.
3. Utilize specific therapist
techniques that help therapeutic norms and values evolve
contributing to individual change within the group.
