The Interpersonal Model of Group Psychotherapy

This workshop will address theoretical and practical considerations in utilizing an interpersonal approach to group psychotherapy. Examination of the integration of cognitive and interpersonal processes within the here-and-now of the group will illuminate the connection between pathogenic beliefs and subsequent maladaptive interpersonal behavior. The workshop will emphasize ways the therapist can work effectively with these processes.

The attendee will be able to:

1. Synthesize interpersonal and cognitive theory constructively.

2. Develop effective approaches to working in the here-and now.

3. Utilize feedback and therapeutic metacommunication constructively
