Group Dynamics for Leaders of Nonclinical Groups

Presented are the group dynamics that are central for nonclinical psychoeducational, task and other theme-centered groups that are narrowly focused on specific goals and outcomes, and that have a short time frame.  Emphases will be given to using group dynamics to decide on interventions, and on major leader tasks and personal characteristics.

Didactic-Experiential-Demonstration-Sharing of work experiences

 

Learning Objectives:

The attendee will be able to:

1. Describe the group dynamics that are important to observe and use as indicators for

interventions.

2. List the major leader facilitative skills and activities.

3. Analyze the leader's role in fostering the emergence of therapeutic factors, conflict resolution, encouraging member-to-member interactions, and in repairing empathic failures.

4. Identify significant leadership characteristics and skills.
