This is a workshop on understanding and treating the recovering health professional in group therapy. It invites mental health professionals to understand the process of how addicted physicians come to treatment. The dual modality of AA and group has significant treatment implications. It allows those in recovery to manage their sobriety more successfully.

Learning Objectives:

The attendee will be able to:

1. Formulate a clear understanding of how substance abuse is dealt with in the community of physicians.

2. Question how to treat physicians who have not wished to be treated.

3. Differentiate issues of substance abuse denial and denial related to fearing authority
