Sexual Transference and Countertransference: Hope and Dread

This workshop will acquaint participants with current theories of erotic transference and countertransference, focusing on Lacan's theory of desire. Group discussion will focus on the pros and cons, the difficulties, and the shame related to sexual feelings as they manifest in group therapy.

The attendee will be able to:

1. Differentiate between sexual demand, need and desire.

2. Discuss some of the difficulties and benefits of attending to sexual issues in groups.

3. Integrate various models for the use of self-disclosure around sexual issues manifested in group psychotherapy.
