Promoting Affect Development Within an Integrated Model of Group Psychotherapy

After surveying existing models of group psychotherapy which conceptualize the group process in terms of the individual, interpersonal and group-as-a-whole dynamics, the workshop will demonstrate the salient affects associated with each of the stages in the group's life cycle and the therapist's role in promoting the expression of affect within a developmental framework.

Learning Objectives:

The attendee will be able to:

1. Identify the primary affects of focus during the stages of group development.
2. Utilize an integrative model of group psychotherapy in making meaningful interventions.
3. Promote affect development within a developmental perspective.
