SOS: A Strengths-Based Group Model for Kids K-12

 

Open to participants with less than four years of group psychotherapy experience.

The Strengthened Sense of Self (SOS) group model responds to the demand for systematic and accountable services in schools and other settings. This workshop will provide an introduction to a model that is solution-focused, tapping into kids' natural ability to change. The presentation will be both didactic and demonstration.

Learning Objectives:

The attendee will be able to:

1. Describe the component parts of the SOS group model.
2. Identify the steps towards a goal in the solution-focused approach.
3. Relate essential group leadership skills to leading solution-focused groups.
4. Demonstrate the integration of psycho-educational content and solution-focused dialogue.
5. Utilize member goals to evaluate group effectiveness
