This workshop
will examine the concept of mentorship. We will discuss benefits
mentees can receive from the knowledge, wisdom and experience of
mentors in the field of group therapy. We will describe the roles
of mentors and mentees, present current theories, and discuss the
implications for AGPA membership and training of group therapists.
We will also illuminate our own experience as mentor and mentee and
invite participants to share their experiences.

Objectives:
The attendee
will be able to:
1. Distinguish among the terms mentor, coach, supervisor, role model,
and therapist.
2. Apply the
basic principles of establishing a successful mentoring
relationship.
3. Design a
mentoring contract that is specific to the needs and goals of both
parties.
4. Evaluate
one’s own history of being mentored and/or mentoring.
