The Promise of Short-Term Group Therapy Combining Subgrouping with EMDR

 

Open to participants with less than four years of group psychotherapy experience

This workshop presents a brief overview of Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) with clinical vignettes and handouts reviewing research. Subgrouping will be used to identify EMDR targets. A contained form of EMDR processing will be conducted with one individual within the group, with subgroups silently participating. Group processing follows.

Learning Objectives:

The attendee will be able to:
1. Discuss evidence for the efficacy of EMDR.
2. Identify appropriate EMDR targets from group process.
3. Demonstrate use of subgrouping.
4. List resources for further inquiry.
