The Peace Seeking Approach
of the Erevna International Peace Center
Chair:
Susan G. Lazar, M.D.,
Supervising and Training Analyst, Washington Psychoanalytic
Institute, Washington, DC
The approach to
peace seeking of the spiritually based ecumenical Erevna
International Peace Center will be presented along with a discussion
of the roots of human conflict. The vision of the Peace Center
includes a view of human beings as gradually evolving in the quality
and maturity of social, ethical, and legal norms toward an
increasingly egalitarian and inclusive standard. The approach of the
Peace Center is to help conflicting societies mature in their values
and to appreciate the perspective of their former enemies.
Learning Objectives:
The attendee will
be able to:
1.Identify some of
the sources of human conflict.
2. Discuss the evolution of human values that contribute to peace.
3.Identify several principles that contribute to successful conflict
resolution.
