Group Work with Women over 50 in Transition: A Creative Approach

Presented under the auspices of the AGPA Diversity SIG

Chairs:

Ruth Neubauer, M.S.W., Faculty, Washington School of Psychiatry, Washington, DC
Karen Van Allen, M.S.W., Private Practice, Washington, DC

We will share the process we have designed over the last ten years, to help people after age 50, answer their questions about retirement, transition and WHAT NEXT?
This includes forming a sense of community for discussion; exploring passion(s); questioning self limiting beliefs; letting go of clutter; facing the unknown and listening to your inner voice.

Learning Objectives:

The attendee will be able to:
1. Apply one or more ideas to their own group work
2. Formulate ways in which participants in a group can identify self limiting beliefs and injunctions
3. Compare our process of getting to WHAT NEXT to other group and individual methods
