Psychodynamic group therapy training has an important place in the growth and development of young psychiatrists.  This session, co-sponsored by the Psychiatry SIG, will present a supervision process group for 3rd and 4th year psychiatry residents.  We will review the conceptual model for the group, discuss the transition from supervisee to supervisor as a separation-individual process, and present videotape vignettes.

Learning Objectives:

The attendee will be able to:

1. Identify the role of group therapy in psychiatric education.

2. Appreciate the challenges in providing group psychotherapy training in the context of psychiatric residency.

3. Understand the group supervision model used.
