Workshop 88

Beyond Words: Using Music, Movement, and Breathing to Facilitate and Deepen the Group Process

Chair:

Jane Burbank, M.S.W., LCSW, Private Practice, New York, New York

Open to participants with less than four years of group psychotherapy experience

Music, movement and breathing techniques will be emphasized with limited use of conventional talk therapy. Non-verbal techniques encourage access to the whole body which help to reduce anxiety, promote mindfulness, and open the mind-body connection.  Non-verbal techniques encourage deepening of affect, which allows for the emergence of early unprocessed experience into the group process.
