The Group Solution

The Group Solution, published three times annually, is the official newsletter of the National Registry of Certified Group Psychotherapists. The publication emphasizes standards of practice for group psychotherapy and addresses the challenges facing clinicians in the current service system context.

The newsletter welcomes submissions from members on topics related to professionalism, ethics, standards setting, marketing, and changing practices. It also invites AGPA SIGs and Committees to report on their activities that relate to the Registry's goal of underscoring the value of certification. Possible topics include the member's motivations for certification as well as innovations in clinical care and education that pertain to particular subgroups of the AGPA. (For example, the SaPMI [Severely and Persistently Mentally Ill] SIG might write about how training for certification enhances the ability of group therapists to supervise the less experienced clinicians who are routinely employed to treat the chronically mentally ill.)

Articles in The Group Solution vary in length depending upon the subject matter. While submission does not guarantee publication, the Newsletter Editor will work with those who submit material to achieve publication whenever possible.

You are also welcome to suggest ideas even if you do not want to write about them yourself. For instance, you can suggest an ethical issue you would like to see addressed in the "Ethics Q & A" column.
