WHAT WE SUPPORT
The leader in the funding and advancement of therapeutic group work, the Group Foundation for Advancing Mental Health supports the most effective and innovative approaches to group therapy education and training, research and community outreach.
EDUCATION We support the group training and programs that help change lives. We annually award over 200 scholarships for students, new professionals, active military and agency personnel to attend the AGPA’s Annual Meeting. We promote initiatives to advance knowledge of group therapy as a primary treatment modality. We provide funding for the publication of the Certification Board’s training manuals. We publish the “Group Works” brochure to help educate the public about group psychotherapy and its benefits.
COMMUNITY We promote the advancement of group therapy in the mental health community through funding for professional and public education. We foster relationships among professionals and the public through partnerships. We support community outreach programs for trauma relief, e.g. Camp Galaxy for Armed Services and National Guard children, terrorist and other violent attacks, hurricane and other natural disaster survivors and care-giver support. We are the leader in the movement to raise the understanding of group work and the power of group therapy within the wider community of professionals as well as the general public.
- We are a well-known benefactor in the mental health community that helps to advance group therapy through funding for ground-breaking research.
